BIOGRAPHY:
Helen Luton Hafer was born in California on July 19, 1914. Hafer was a painter of California landscapes and still life works. By the early 1920's she had settled in, and was active in Southern California. She studied at the Chouinard Institute in Los Angeles, and privately with Harry Emerson Lewis.For many
years Hafer was the Director of Arts for the Orange County Fairs. She taught art at YMCA's in both Orange and Santa Ana, California. In her latter years she lived in San Juan Capistrano, California.Hafer exhibited widely in Southern California. She was a member of the Palm Springs Art Association, Desert
Art Center in Palm Springs, Whittier Art Association, Orange County Art Association, and the Laguna Beach Art Association. She died in San Clemente, California on May 18, 2003.
