Description
Square Golden Beige Marble Tiles, each with a round framed deep relief cartouche of a sleeping deer and stalking wolf, bamboo to left, a canopy of blossoms above, each panel made of nine components, having a carved bamboo frame, with wood backing added in the 1970s, 27 1/2" x 26" x 3" each. Surface wear and repairs.Exhibited at the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC), Beijing, 1996; and at Houston's Rice University Art Museum, Menil Celebration, 1995 & 1997-8. Provenance: Collections of William Walker & descendants and the Walker Foundation.
