Description
1549 1st ed Italian Renaissance Carmina Poetry Flaminio Pietro Bembo Castiglione
‘Carmina’ is an important 16th-century collection of Renaissance, Neo-Latin poetry. First published in 1548 by Vincent Valgrisi, this work was the standard anthology of the works of the included poets. Valgrisi featured the poetry of the following:
Pietro Bembo
Andrea Navigero
Baldassarre Castiglione
Giovanni Cotta
Marcantonio Flaminio
The main reason for this publication of this work was to publish Flaminio’s Latin poetry. He wrote elegies and epigrams, hymns, eclogues, and many letters. These short writings, along with his paraphrased Psalms were published in ‘Carmina’ during the last years of his life.
