Title: SIX POINT STAR FRIENDSHIP SIGNED ANTIQUE QUILT

Date: 1952, 1953 dated and signed

Material: cotton

Provenance/Additional Info: A testament to the popularity of quilt making across the country in the second quarter of the 20th century. The white hexagons that appear between the pieced stars are each signed in embroidery with the name of the contributor to the project - women, men, couples - and often with the town and state the person came from, and embroidered dates. Likely a fund- raising quilt to which a widespread community of friends who quilted contributed their blocks and signatures. In great condition with fresh prints and fabrics and exceedingly legible signatures (for someone who might want to do geneology).
