Description
A wonderful Egyptian funerary mask, Late Period, c. 664 - 332 BC, the facial portion from an anthropoid sarcophagus lid, retaining original gesso and paint. The features are in wonderful style and the eyes with great detail. 10 7/8 x 11 in (27.9 x 27.5 cm). Mounted on a lucite base. There has been repair/restoration around the outer portions of the mask, but it is difficult to tell the complete extent. Ex Dallas, TX collection acquired in Paris 1992, appraised by Bonham's antiquities department in 2006.
