Description
A very rare and fascinating old female shrine idol with a classic heart shaped face accented kaolin clay and a whimsical pose to her arms. The bottom of the torso evolves into a circular base form that has eroded away. Metoko peoples, DRC/ Congo, Africa. The figure measures 11.75 inches tall. Provenance: Field collected by Rev. Lawson Mooney in Congo, then sold to Dr. Ken Adelman, Former director of USAID Zaire, prior to 1975
