BURR, AARON. Autograph Letter Signed, "A.B.," to his young business partner Thomas Hunt Flandrau, sending instructions for managing legal cases, sending a letter from Judge Howe [not present], and requesting a decision as to whether he wishes to continue in his employ and if so, under what terms. 1 page, small 4to; backed with tissue, some chipping to left edge, folds. With detached fragment of address leaf including address in his hand, backed. - Albany, 10 April 1824
"You will be pleased to have in readiness the alias writ of Possession in the Rathbone Cases . . . . If the injunction should be dissolved on Monday you will have notice about Sunrise, Wednesday Morn'g. Have Shaw in waiting at that hour. Begin with J.R.'s Stable & don't, again, wait for keys. Learn from the Sheriff or from Shaw, or better, through Capt Reid, whether Security will again be demanded & if so, have a bond executed & ready for delivery . . . .
"I intend you to devote all your evening to study. The Suits . . . must be commenced before Term. . . .
"You have not yet signified to me your election as to the Terms of our association; whether you are disposed to continue notwithstanding etc. & if yea, whether at a salary or as a partner. The six months which you required for consideration, examination, etc. by way of experiment, have, I think, nearly elapsed."
