Description
DESCRIPTION: Pennsylvania walnut Queen Anne Great Chair. Probably Delaware Valley circa 1720-70. Yoke back with solid wood shaped splat flanked by turned uprights. Box stretcher with a later rush woven seat. The chair’s construction suggests a possible Pennsylvania German connection as the uprights of the arm support and box frame of the seat have triple wooden peg pinning. This is an elaborate structure and probably not needed for support, however this is suggestive of Germanic construction which favored triple pegging. MEASUREMENTS: 23-1/4" wide x 22" deep x 42-5/8" high. CONDITION: Evidence of several seats and reworking of rails to accommodate those changes. Feet probably pieced out due to normal deterioration. Old refinish. IMPORTANT: Before bidding, please read the terms and conditions. When you registered for the auction you agreed to these terms and will be required to comply with them.
