Description
A pair of Roman chalcedony intaglios, c. 1st - 3rd Century AD, both in carnelian, the first with a creme patina with a nicely incised image of Genius, raising hand and holding a cornucopia, 13.5 x 12 mm, the second depicts Asklepios, the god of medicine, with serpent staff and wearing petasos facing Hygeia, goddess of health, who holds a serpent. The intaglio is in original silver bezel and atop a red glass base to elevate it. 14 x 14.5 mm. Ex collection of Peter Cheremisinoff, NJ.
