Er beauftragte die Herstellung mehrerer prächtig illuminierter Stundenbücher. The manuscript is kept in the Royal Library in Brussels. Jean de Berry is considered one of the most important art collectors, builders and patrons of the 14th century. He commissioned the production of several magnificently illuminated books of hours. In the Book of Hours, which is called "Heures de Bruxelles" after the place where it is kept today, he had himself portrayed in two of the full-page miniatures (fol. 10 and 14).*
