ALVIN LANGDON COBURN Arizona Desert [Sierra Estrella or Hays Peak] 1911-1912 c 3x4 in. Gelatin Silver Print ASG# ALC/1125 Coburn's EMBOSSED MONOGRAM in print lower left. Print mounted to heavy black board one quarter inch larger than print then affixed to 7x8 in. gray linen mount framed with gray linen and black interior border mat and silver frame.
Alvin Langdon Coburn (1882-1966) was a member of Stieglitz's circle in the 1900s. Known first for his pictorial views of New York and London, his work had already evolved into a modernist view by 1910.
Provenance: Found with lot 150 and other Coburn books from George Chamberlain (1917-2004) legendary book dealer, founder and owner of The Antiquarian Shop, Scottsdale, AZ.
