Description
A Chinese blue and white ginger jar, late Qing, having a pierced and carved wood cover decorated with a bird amongst lotus scrolls, the body with blossoming prunus against a cracked ice ground, with pierced and carved wood stand, 25cm high including cover.
Condition
The cover is fixed to the jar. the centre of the lid and underside of the jar have both been pierced, most likely to accommodate an electric cable. The cover has a small crack on the side. There are small and fine hairline cracks issuing from the pierced base hole. The stand has an age crack across the surface There are some small pieces missing from one section, but generally intact.
