Description
The Pond is a gorgeous oil on board by Leon Richet (1847-1907).Signed and dated on lower left by Richet but date harder to read.1860s maybe 1868? On verso of board, Paris / French stamp and label as well as old price label. Dimensions 14" X 24". Provenance: From Private Collection obtained at auction. A landscape Richet often painted, the scene depicts a person in the forefront leaning over a small pond surrounded by trees. Active during his career in France, his most famous paintings are of this subject matter with a person on a path or by a pond. This particular one is of the Barbizon Forest as noted on the verso along with Leon's name and former price tag of $8500 and the dimensions (See photos).Painting is set in hand carved gold and black frame. Richet has sold for over $40,000 at auction. A great piece for a serious art collector. 1% of hammer price for all items sold at Masters of Art Volume II Art Series Auction will be donated to the Humane Society.

Great condition both painting and frame. Viewed by naked eye and under UV light. Panel seen on verso in great condition.
