Second half 19th century, 265 x 136 cm, Central Caucasus
This antique Genje features a two-row design of Memling güls and a rare main border in which elibelinde-like devices, each surrounded by four small triangles, lie on a white ground. This design is often encountered in the rugs and flatweaves of the Khorasan Kurds but is rarely seen in the Caucasus. - Signs of age and wear, the pile is worn away in places. Repiled areas, repaired selvedges.
