"Professor Davidson had originally believed that Sir Francis Drake entered San Francisco Bay. In this article he revealed a change in belief, and maintained that 'the great circumnavigator anchored in Drake's Bay; ...there remains not the shadow of a doubt in my mind as to the exact locality'..." - Evans, First One Hundred Years... California Historical Society, p. 172. This was the fifth publication of the California Historical Society. Cowan, p. 157; Rocq 4965. Inscribed by Davidson to Professor E. W. Dahlgren, with accompanying notes about readings in San Francisco.

Condition
