Description
Gignoux, Regis (French/American, Hudson River School, 1816-1882), Storm on Lake George, oil on canvas, c.1855, unsigned, 13.25 x 20.5 inches in a plain wood frame. Title attributed from Gignoux's own notebook where he recorded all of his works and sales -- this one with his inventory number 125 on the reverse. Lake George is a narrow lake in the Adirondack Mountains between the Hudson and St. Lawrence Rivers. Provenance: From the estate of Arthur B. de Saint Maurice, the great-grandson of Regis Gignoux.
Condition
Small areas of scraping along the edges, few faint spot stains at upper left, one pinhole sized scrape at center left, general layer of surface dirt. Merchandise will be packed and transported by the purchaser at their own risk and expense.
