There are several punctures backed with patches, and a few minor paint losses. There is a small amount of modern retouching and filling of cracks, but very heavy and dirty varnish is hiding what must be old retouching. The canvas is loose and actually nailed at the edges to the face of the stretcher; probably cut down from a larger painting
