A CONTEMPORARY FACSIMILE COPY OF THE SURRENDER OF JAPAN’S RYUKYU ISLANDS
A rare wartime imprint a facsimile copy of the surrender of the Ryukyu Islands by three Japanese military commanders to the United States on September 7 1945 – five days after the Japanese surrender was signed in Tokyo Bay. The large one-page facsimile (9.5 x 15.5 inches) withTenth Army heading bears the simple text of the surrender and facsimile signatures of signatories Lt. Gen. Toshiro Nomi Major Gen. Toshisada Takada Rear Admiral Tadao Kato and American representative Joseph Stilwell. The surrender was signed at Tenth Army Headquarters on Okinawa. This copy was undoubtedly produced at about the same time as the surrender and likely given to senior officers and those who had attended the proceedings. Fine condition.
