Signed and dated 1934 bottom left, signed and dated again verso, oil on canvas.

PROVENANCE:
The Estate of the Artist, Springfield, Pennsylvania.
Exhibited:
"Thirty-Ninth Annual Exhibition by Artists of Chicago and Vicinity," Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois, January 31 - March 10, 1935, exhibition checklist no. 220.
note:
This painting shows the view looking toward the street (Wrightwood) from the three-story carriage house that served as both studio and residence for the artist since the 1930's and then subsequently also home to his wife, Ann and their very young children, until the move to Milwaukee in August 1946. It belonged to the mansion whose side wall is seen at the right side of the painting, owned and used by the Swedish Engineers Club.

note:
For a period of time, the artist lived a block away from Lincoln Park and often visited this scenic spot to practice his drawing, though his paintings were always executed in his studio.
