Jardur, Rare Bezelmeter Aviator's Chronograph Engraved "Night Mission, 20th Bomb GP C.J. Nov. 44" Attributed To Captain C.J. Joyce, Circa 1940's Case: 37 mm, stainless steel, three body, engraved screw down case back, bi-directional rotating bezel, 49906 Dial: black, luminous Arabic numerals, outer white telemeter scale and red 180 degree divisions, inner 24 hour numerals, luminous "syringe" hands, orange center seconds Movement: 17 jewels, Valjoux 72, signed Pilgrim Electric Corp., manual winding Band: leather, steel buckle Signed: Jardur, Water Resistant, Incabloc, Antimagnetic This fascinating military instrument was owned by Capt. Charles (Doc) Joyce, or Winchester Mass. Lot is accompanied by numerous photo print outs and information detailing his heroic acts as B-29 pilot of the "Raiden Maiden", 793rd Squadron, 468th Bombardment Group, 20th Bomber Command. His nickname "Doc" was given for his ability to get badly damaged aircraft safely down - details relaying how he landed a B-29 dead stick after running out of fuel from 10,000 feet is in the paperwork.
