Description
Holocaust - German passport to Jew who fled to Uruguay in 1939 and could escape from Nazi Germany and the Holocaust. Very interesting because it has the red "J" stamped on the first page to identify him as a Jew. This man, called Israel Frank Phillip, was an elderly Jew from Hannover, and he could escape to Uruguay in october 1939, after the war broke out, so he was wise enough to anticipate to the horrors Jews had to go through following years. The name Israel was compulsory for all the male Jews and Sara for all females. A way to mark them and identify them as Jews easily. There are some interesting entries on this passport. The visa to Uruguay is very interesting. It represented the way to freedom and salvation of one of the few European Jews that could survive the Holocaust emmigrating in time! Excellent condition.
