Description
Rare Jean-Michel Frank (1895-1941); designed Art Deco cardboard scarf box with book-hinge, probably for Guerlain, Paris where he was active in product design, advertising and the interior decoration of their salons, the top and sides covered in golden Straw Marquetry a humble traditional French material that Frank rediscovered and started using in the 1920's - 1930's; box lined in plain papers. Height 1 inch (2.6 cm.) X width 8 1/2 inches (21.7 cm.) X depth 5 3/4 inches (14.5cm.).
Condition
Slight lifting of straw parquetry and a few small chips or small bits of missing straw at edges.
