Large Olmec Jade Dwarf w/ God Mask (1200 BC - 900 BC)

This important Large Jade figure clarifies the prominent role the dwarf played in the palaces of the Olmecs. As an auspicious member of the court, the dwarf would often relate information from the Gods. The depiction of this hunch backed, small armed dwarf wearing the mask of the Banded Eye God sheds light on the small persons importance to the rulers.
