This cotton 1830's (or earlier) Virginia reel quilt is hand appliqued and hand quilted, with an unusual vine border. It measures a generous 80" X 82" and is in good/fair condition, with the occasional age spot, "popping" (where the ink has prematurely deteriorated, and eaten away some of the fabric) in the red prints and no wear, except for a few "nibbles" at the edge of the binding. The quilting is UNBELIEVABLE, with close straight line, stipple, and feathered designs quilted throughout at an even 10-12 stitches to the inch. The back is white, the hand stitched binding is an early green print, and the batting is thin. You can see cotton seed residue inside when you hold the quilt up to the light.
