Ca. 1900, 120 x 60 cm, Central Asia, South Tibet
A saddle bottom rug composed of two trapezoid halves woven separately and joined at the centre. The light brown fields show a floral disc medallion, clouds and wave motifs in the corners; a wide sea-green central section. An inner pearl border flanks the main border in which a meandering vine is drawn to perspective. - Good condition, only slight signs of age and wear. The former openings for the straps have been shut in the knotting technique.
