Ca. 1900, 58 x 82 cm, Central Asia, South Tibet

A pillow. A dragon chasing the flaming pearl and a phoenix face each other diagonally in the dark blue field, which also depicts two large lotus blossoms. A second phoenix and a further large flower are seen in truncated form at the right-hand side. This traditional type of picture – here used in the small format of a pillow – was almost always woven without borders. – Very good condition, high pile and original finishes all around. Backed with a dark blue fabric.
