A Gorham Mfg. Co. Martelé Silver Cherry Blossom Water Pitcher, Providence, Rhode Island, circa 1919 Marks: Martelé, (lion-anchor-G under eagle), .9584, PJC 10-1/4 inches (26.0 cm) 54.77 troy ounces PROPERTY FROM A SOUTHERN COLLECTION The hand hammered pitcher with flared, undulating lip rim and spout above tapering body with repoussé strapwork and cherry blossom sprigs, applied C-scroll handle, raised on a shaped, lobed foot with conforming motif, monogrammed MCS. According to the Gorham Archives, production of pitcher PJC began on January 16th, 1919 and required 68 hours to produces, plus an additional 53 hours of chasing. The final price was $262.00.
