The frame is made of Pine with various knots made of hemp rope with a macramé edge. The tablet area is painted black with USS Pensy spelled in knots with remnants of the gold paint. Pennsylvania, c. 1940' s Overall 22”H x 27” W, window, 13.5”H x 18.75”W
Purportedly from the Moses family. William Moses was Captain of the USS Pennsylvania for five months in 1945 from June thru November Built at the Newport News Navy Yard in Virginia and commissioned in 1916, the USS Pennsylvania (BB-38) was the lead ship of her Class of United States Navy "super dreadnought" battleships. During WWII, she participated in every major naval offensive in the Pacific, from Alaska to Okinawa. During WWII, she earned 8 battle stars and the US Navy Commendation Award for service.
