Description
David Hockney (English, b. 1937) Rare set of four (4) color posters from the 2017 Hockney Exhibition at the Tate Britain for the "60 Years of Work" retrospective. Each poster measures 23.5" x 16.5". They were printed in a limited edition only available at the exhibition and are now out of print and no longer available. Very hard to find as a complete set. Featured are the following works: "Christopher Isherwood and Don Bachardy" (1968) - A double portrait of the couple; an English writer and a visual artist, in Santa Monica, CA. "Portrait of an Artist (Pool with two Figures)" (1972) - Pop art depiction of a painter and swimmer exhibiting two of Hockney's favorite themes: a swimming pool and a double portrait. "Going Up Garrowby Hill" (2000) - A landscape that uses eye-popping color and plays with perspective: the undulating fields seem both remote and close, fixed and fast-moving, as if seen from a car window. "Garden with Blue Terrace" (2015) is Hockney's own Hollywood garden with its distinctive blue terrace in the background and swimming pool in the center. This set of four posters has sold for over $2,000 both online and in galleries.
