Herbert George Wells was an English writer. He was prolific in many genres, writing dozens of novels, short stories, and works of social commentary, satire, biography, and autobiography, including even a book on war games. He is best remembered for his science fiction novels and is often called a "father of science fiction", along with Jules Verne and Hugo Gernsback.



This book ‘The Wheels of Chance’ is one of his lesser known works which came to be a “classic novel of the early days of cycling” (Hammond) about a draper’s apprentice who goes cycling. This 1896 first edition includes 40 illustrations by J. Ayton Symington!
