Chen Shaomei (April 1909-September 1954), male, Han nationality, born in a scholarly home in Hengshan, Hunan, modern painter. He studied calligraphy, painting and poetry with his father since his childhood, and was deeply influenced by traditional Chinese culture. At the age of 15, he joined the “Chinese Painting Research Society” initiated by Jin Beilou, Chen Shizeng, etc. At the age of 17, he became the backbone of the well-known “Hushe Painting Society”. At 22, he hosted the “Hushe Tianjin Branch” and became the leader of the Jinmen Painting Forum. In 1930, his work won the Silver Medal of Fine Arts of the “Belgium Centennial International Exposition”, and later began to emerge in the art world, becoming an influential painter in the Beijing-Tianjin area. After the founding of New China, he was the chairman of the Tianjin Branch of the Chinese Artists Association and the president of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts.
