Description:
Original letter hand-written by R. Crumb in pencil on 8.5" x 11" paper. Undated. Signed " R. Crumb." Very fine condition; left edge curled, corner bumped. Crumb's 21st c. epistolary technique is as follows: his brother-in-law Alex prints out emails addressed to Crumb; the un-tech-savvy Crumb writes his response on paper; Alex transcribes the handwritten letter into email, sends the email to the correspondent and saves the letter. A collector has latterly made an exclusive deal to obtain Crumb's handwritten email drafts; thus, these "email letters" are now essentially off the market.
"I'm proud o' ya for hanging in there all these many decades with a sincere love for old music..."
Crumb offers his opinion on a Texas Sheiks CD sent to him by a Mr. Muldaur ("I liked the music, enjoyed it"). He declines Muldaur's request for CD cover art ("I'm flattered that you want me to do the cover but I'm sorry, I can't... I'm already overcommitted, with a pile of obligations on my desk... all the things I've already said 'yes' to..." The verso is a photocopy of a blues band flier.
