Urban Stanley Couch was born and raised in Minnesota, and received his degree from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. He worked in a variety of styles, and had a large number of influences, ranging from Abstract Expressionism and Hard Edge styles to more traditional styles inspired by his Native American heritage. He had a successful career as an academic as well as an artist, and was art department chair at West Virginia University for many years. He is especially known for his striking use of color, often in geometric compositions such as this painting. Dimensions: Height: 42 1/4 in x width: 50 in.
