The first six volumes of French explorer Dumont d'Urville's account of travel to Antarctica in an attempt to claim the South Magnetic Pole for France. Dumont D'Urville died tragically in 1842 and the remainder of the work was completed and supplemented by M. Dumoulin. The total work was issued over the course of 15 years (1841-1855).

Condition

Ex-library with stamps from Seminario Pontificie in Santiago, Chile; Wear, rubbing and loss to boards, all corners bumped, some missing; many pages loose, including some maps, page toning and foxing throughout, several tears and chips to pages; overall good.
