OPPENHEIMER J. ROBERT: (1904-1967) American Theoretical Physicist, known as the `father of the atomic bomb' for his role in the Manhattan Project during World War II. Scarce T.L.S., `Robert Oppenheimer´, one page, 4to, Princeton, 26th August 1963, on the letter heading of The Institute For Advanced Study, Princeton, New Jersey, to famous journalist Mr. Norman Cousins, Saturday Review, New York. Oppenheimer states `I very much liked your letter in the Times yesterday. I hope that you will like this very brief talk that I gave last June in Chicago´ Signed in bold blue ink at the base. Very small and light crease to the upper left corner with two extremely small pinholes as a result of a former staple, otherwise about VG £600-900 Norman Cousins (1915-1990) was a noted political journalist and active world peace advocate.
