Very Rare English Engraved Hand-colored Broadside "The standard of weights and measures in the Exchequer" "Anno 12.o Henrici Septimi" [12th year in the reign of Henry VII]" [Vetusta Monumenta] | Engraved by the Society of Antiquaries of London in 1746 | A broadside on the weights and measures introduced by Henry VII in 1497, copied after an original parchment pasted on an oak table formerly in the Treasury of the Kings Exchequer at Westminster, later in the library of the Earl of Oxford; a plate from the series Vetusta Monumenta, showing an engraving most probably by George Vertue with four historical scenes on the introduction of standard weights and measures, and with various details showing grains, scales, weights, jugs, barrels etc.; with engraved title, and with engraved text throughout. (London, Society of Antiquaries: 1746) | In 1746 George Vertue was the official engraver of the Society of Antiquaries. According to an undated list of the works published by the Society of Antiquaries of London, the price of the single sheet was 2 s and 6 d.
