Description
A hands on folk art belt from Tibet that was decorated with silver-colored and coral beads.
A thick leather belt with stitched leather thread and a metal clasp with grommets at one end and a leather strap at the opposite end. The metal buckle has a tooled design and two coral beads. There are 39 thick cylindrical coral beads in a line down the center of the belt. Above and below these beads are a row of half spherical silver-color metal adornments with a florid ornamentation. The adornments appear to be made from a pot metal coated with a silver gilding. The beads and adornments are attached to the belt by a square leather lace.
You can see natural irregularities and striations in the coral beads on the face of the belt, as well as those on the buckle.
