Margaret Mitchell signed early printing of "Gone With The Wind"
Gone with the Wind, Early Printing (printed in the same year as the First Edition). New York: Macmillan Company, 1936. Reprint October 1936. Original grey cloth, titles and decoration to front board and spine in dark blue. Slight toning to the cloth. SIGNED by the author as "Margaret Mitchell" on one of the blank pages located just before the title page. With the original lightly nicked, toned, and chipped dust jacket with the $3.00 price intact to the front inner flap. Original owner bookplate on the front paste down. All internal pages in fine condition. An excellent SIGNED copy printed in the same year as the first printing.
Gone With the Wind is said to be the fastest selling novel in the history of American publishing (50,000 copies in a single day), and went on to win the Pulitzer Prize. Basis for the 1939 film starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh. It is regarded as one of the greatest films of all time; it has placed in the top ten of the American Film Institute's list of the top 100 American films since the list's inception in 1998; and, in 1989, the United States Library of Congress selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry.
