Civil War General Johnston Signed Large Photograph
Boldly signed Sepia photograph of General Joseph Johnston in civilian dress, 6.75" x 8.75", pasted on decorative photographer board, Anderson, Richmond, VA, 10" x 12". Boldly signed by Johnston to the lower margin of the photo "J.E. Johnston". Photograph in lovely near fine condition with pin point abrasions, on a board with edgewear and nicking to the outer extremities.
Joseph Johnston was a career United States Army officer serving with distinction in the Mexican-American and Seminole Wars. After Virginia seceded, he entered the Confederate States Army as one of its most senior general officers. By 1860 he achieved the rank of brigadier general as Quartermaster General of the Army.
