Description: Original period manufacture. Standard issue Gras bayonet, blade date on spine. Serial numbers are mismatched blade to scabbard, but only 1 number apart. Blade stamped with symbol "M?" on one side above hilt, marking 'C?' symbol? see photo other side. Inscription on flat of blade, see photos; Handle shaped (about 3 inches) wood, brass butt (about 2 inches) shaped handle, Hilt curves upward on left side, ball end see photo, serial number on curled side of hilt, stamped symbol (see photo) followed by 83773. 2 rivets through hilt horizontal across handle belt clip / ring/lip, additional rivet to right of barrel ring see photos. Base of scabbard opposite rectangular belt clip forged ring stamped may be initials ??? see photo followed by 83772. Rivet below each side of base of scabbard. Very base of scabbard partial forged ring to right of 83772 stamping. Point end of scabbard forged ball end.
