A WOOD MANJU NETSUKE OF A WARRIOR

Japan, 19th century, Edo period (1615-1868)
A two-part wood manju netsuke showing a warrior against an asanoha-ground. The backside shows a finely carved chrysanthemum. This manju was likely supposed to be lacquered in tsuishu red.
DIAMETER c. 5 cm
Condition: Good condition, remnants of black lacquer.
Provenance: Austrian private collection.
