Edward Dixon was a 19th-century American surgeon who published medical book on his experiences practicing in New York City. ‘Scenes in the Practice’ was Dixon’s account of his career providing anecdotes and stories of infant colds, cholera, benefits of exercise, physical signs of aging in women, consequences of cold feet, the evils of celibacy and damages of sexless marriages, and much more.

Curiously, Dixon includes information on encountering demons, the detriment of loving money, faithfulness in marriage, and even accounts of suicide. This undated 19th century edition includes 8 illustrations by Darley and Engraved by N Orr.
