Description
**First Time At Auction**
Western/Central Europe, Germany, ca. mid-19th century CE. A forged-steel hunting dagger with a lengthy body with etched foliate motifs, sharpened edges, and a pointed tip. The cast-copper handle features a boar-head pommel, a narrow handle with raised hunting accoutrements on both sides, a scalloped hand guard, and a thick pair of boar legs and hooves form the S-shaped quillon. Accompanying the knife is a form-fitting sheath with a crosshatch-patterned leather midsection and additional hunting weapon imagery on the top and bottom panels. Size (w/ sheath): 3.5" W x 12.375" H (8.9 cm x 31.4 cm); (length of blade): 7.75" L (19.7 cm).

Condition
Minor separation to metal sheath panels. Original by-knife missing. Minor abrasions to dagger blade and handle, leather wrap on sheath, and metal sheath panels, with some darkening to sheath exterior and handle. Great patina throughout.
