Sidney Miller Wiggins (AMERICAN, 1881–1940) oil on board "Italy 1925" Measures 13 inches high x 16 inches wide + 1 1/4 inch frame.The creator of oil and watercolor paintings, etchings, wood cuts, linoleum cuts and photographs, Wiggins painted landscapes of the Hudson River and the Westchester Countryside, ships, docks, and fishing boats in Gloucester, Massachusetts, still lives, and European scenes, particularly in Pre-War Spain.Studied:National Academy of Design; with Robert Henri and John Sloan; in Europe, painting in Spain, Morocco, Italy, and on the Cornish and Brittany coasts.Exhibited:Thayer Museum, Hudson River Museum, National Academy of Design, Pittsburgh International, Allied Artists of America, Pennsylvania Academy, American Watercolor Society, New York Watercolor Club, Yonkers Art AssociationMemberships:Yonkers Art Association (vice-pres.), Allied Artists of America, American Watercolor Society, New York Watercolor Club, Salmagundi Club
