Description
Tibetan Thangka of the Buddha of Compassion, the Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva (Tib. Chenrezig). Antique painting on silk, possibly c. 1800. Thangka is derived from Tibetan tshog thing. Nine heads and ten arms are depicted, and the standing figure is surrounded by sixteen manifestations. Framed in traditional brocade and currently encased in an acrylic box frame for display and protection. Measures 56.25"H x 36.75"W framed; 49"H x 29.75"W top x 33.5"W bottom unframed.
