Roman Imperial coinage > Severus Alexander, 222-235 AD: AE Sestertius (30.5 x 32mm, 23g), struck 232-235 AD; laureate and draped bust facing right & legend IMP ALEXANDER PIVS AVG / Mars advancing to right, holding spear in right hand and shield in left hand & legend MARS VLTOR + letters SC on either side. References: RIC IV 635, Pink III, pg. 18, Banti 49, BMCRE 843, Cohen 169; AVF/VF, well centered & struck on thick flan with cropped edges, with fairly good detail; brown patina, decent surfaces with only slight porosity; medallic alignment.
