The Importance of Being Earnest
(London: Methuen & Co., 1910). Unnumbered copy of 1,200 for presentation by Mr. George Alexander as a Souvenir of the Twentieth Year of his Management of the St. James's Theater. 12mo. Presentation copy, inscribed by Alexander in pencil to actress Stella Patrick Campbell: "To Ms Stella Patrick Campbell/in remembrance of her sweet/performance as Gwendolen/from George Alexander/Feb 1, 1910", on front free endpaper; also signed and inscribed by six other members of the cast from the 1895 and 1909 productions, including: Allan Aynesworth, Erik Stirling, Vivian Reynolds, Helen Rous, Alice Beet, and Rosaline Toller; additionally signed by Campbell on front free endpaper, and presumably annonated by her throughout entire volume. With 13 photographic magazine clippings of the production tipped in, as well as a photographic ad mounted to rear paste-down and a photographic portriat of Campbell mounted to front paste-down. Publisher's green cloth, stamped in gilt, cocked, corners slightly worn, spine ends rubbed; top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed; scattered minor spotting to text.The St. James Theater was the first theater to stage this play.
