Roman Imperial coinage > Maximus Caesar, AD 235/6-238: AR Denarius (20 x 18.5mm, 3g), Rome mint 2nd emission of Maximinus I, struck AD 236; bareheaded and draped bust facing right ('full' faced with non-jutting chin) & legend IVL VERVS MAXIMVS CAES / emblems of the pontificate: lituus (almost vertical), secespita, guttus (with "S" shaped handle touching pitcher in 2 places), simpulum, aspergillum & legend PIETAS AVG (beginning from far left corner to upper right). References: RIC IV 1, BMCRE 118 (Maximinus I), RSC 1, Sear 8404; choice EF, centered on rough flan with good strike & excellent, sharp details + clear (not mashed) legends & luster; coin alignment.
