Description
Roosevelt Theodore
Theodore Roosevelt Partial DS as President
A fragment of a document signed by sitting President Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919) as "Theodore Roosevelt" at lower right. Signed presumably in Washington, D.C. on January 27, 1905. The watermarked cream paper is partly printed and partly handwritten. Expected folds, including one affecting the "T" of "Theodore". The "lt" of "Roosevelt" is bisected by a closed tear that has been repaired. A minor closed tear is found along the vertical fold at top center. Minor mounting traces verso. Else very good. 8" x 4.875".
The document, of unknown specific content, pertained to the U.S. Post Office. It was almost certainly originally signed by then U.S. Postmaster General Robert J. Wynne, who served between October 1904 and March 1905. His signature would have been found at bottom left.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
