The History of Freemasonry encompasses the origins, evolution and defining events of the fraternal organization known as Freemasonry.
It covers three phases of development-----
Firstly, the emergence of organized lodges of operative masons during the Middle Ages,
Next the admission of lay members as "accepted" or speculative masons,
and finally the evolution of purely speculative lodges, and the emergence of Grand Lodges to govern them.
And then the foundation begins:
The Great Crusades up to the times of printing from Political officials to our own constitution.
A great book !
Albert Mackey is considered one of the most important Masonic writers of all time.
